Heat-setting of Filter Cloth

Heat-setting is an important in the post-processing of filter cloths. It is used to stabilize the fiber structure, optimize performance, and ensure the reliability of the filter cloth in practical applications. Its core functions are as follows:


Fix the fiber structure and stabilize the pore morphology

Principle: Through heat setting or chemical treatment, the molecular chains of the fibers are rearranged and locked into place, eliminating the internal stresses generated during the weaving process.

Function: Maintains the geometric arrangement of the warp and weft yarns of the filter cloth to prevent pore deformation and ensure consistent filtration precision.


Remove internal stresses to prevent shrinkage and warping

Causes: During spinning, stretching and weaving, fibers generate internal stresses that lead to shrinkage and warping of the filter cloth during subsequent use or cleaning.

Solution: Heat-setting releases these stresses through high-temperature relaxation or mechanical stretching. This significantly increases the dimensional stability of the filter cloth, avoiding seal failure due to deformation after installation.


Improve physical properties and durability

Enhance performance: Heat-setting improves the abrasion resistance and tensile strength of the filter cloth, thereby prolonging its service life.

Environmental adaptability: The filter cloth maintains stable performance in high-temperature, high-humidity or chemical environments.


Optimizing surface characteristics and filtration efficiency

Surface treatment: The smoothness or roughness of the filter cloth surface can be altered by adjusting the heat-setting process. For instance, a smooth surface facilitates cake stripping, whereas a rough surface improves particle retention.

Pore regulation: This involves precise control of pore distribution and connectivity to balance filtration efficiency and permeability, thus avoiding clogging or insufficient flow.

Different materials and applications require customized sizing parameters to balance structural stability and functional requirements.
