Applications of woven filter cloth in the industrial solid-liquid separation

Classified by materials

Due to the complicated working conditions in industrial solid-liquid separation, filter cloths must have certain mechanical properties, as well as thermal stability and chemical resistance to acids and alkalis. Therefore, most filter cloths are made from synthetic fibers with favourable chemical properties. The most widely used of these are polyester, polypropylene and nylon fibers.

1. Manufacturers and users of solid-liquid separation equipment are increasingly adopting polyester filter cloth due to its excellent acid resistance and superior high-temperature performance. It is widely used in industries such as chemicals, fertilizers and food and beverage production.

2. Polypropylene filter cloth offers outstanding corrosion resistance and is virtually unaffected by weak acids or strong alkalis. However, its heat resistance is slightly inferior. Polypropylene filter cloth is widely used in the mining, metallurgy and wastewater treatment industries.

3. Nylon filter cloth offers excellent abrasion resistance, high tensile strength and good elasticity.

Applications of woven filter cloth in solid-liquid separation equipment

Solid-liquid separation is the process by which liquid passes through a filter cloth under pressure and is separated from the filtrate through the filter pores. Liquid flows through the pores in the surface of the woven filter cloth while solid particles are retained on or within the cloth, thus achieving separation.

Solid-liquid separation equipment is fundamental to the filtration process. Common examples of such equipment using woven filter cloth as the filtration medium include vacuum belt dewatering machines, plate-and-frame filter presses, and filter cloth disc filters.
